There are numerous business opportunities for making money offered on TV and on the Internet. Some are of the more "lunatic kind", but some are quite legitimate and workable. The main purpose of a good business opportunity has to be to make money in an agreeable environment. In selecting the opportunities for this page, we did not look at whether the business opportunity was something "hip" or "trendy". Instead, we concentrated on whether there was a reasonable chance to succeed, provided you put effort into building on an idea and create a genuine income producing business from that idea.

In addition, we have selected some essential tools that help you control and build up the business. These tools had to be excellent value for money and reasonably easy to use. Maybe you think that making a business plan is not important. We think it is important that you give some thought as to what your resources are and what you want to achieve. Most businesses fail, because the people behind them are disorganized, not very disciplined, work sloppily and have little persistence. A business plan, the footprint for your business, gives you at least some format within which you can work and measure your progress. It will be an incentive to succeed and might increase your persistence. But if you are still not convinced, don't buy it!

But, if your business has anything to do with a web presence, they are essential tools to place yourself in the market. You have to be seen by the public at large to be successful, and these tools will help you do that. We have all used these tools and know that they work!

We have selected a few opportunities that, provided you work hard at it, give you a reasonable chance to succeed with a business opportunity.

The main criteria in our selection was:

	The opportunities have to have a purpose and have to be understandable (an amazing number of "so-called business opportunities" offered simply cannot be duplicated)
	You have to be able to build up a business and create a survivable income stream within a reasonable time. We have used the time frame of one year.
	The entry costs have to be reasonably low.
	The business opportunity does not require specific up-front knowledge, over and beyond common sense. You have to be able to acquire the knowledge for running the business as you build up the business.
	There is no need to purchase and keep inventory.

The most promising opportunities that fit this bill are mostly internet related businesses or activities that require some initial physical effort, such as cleaning services, organizing jobs, coaching, mentoring or similar activities. In other words, they tend to be home based or not very glamorous. But remember, the basic criteria is to make a solid good income with the prospects of making a substantial income within a short time.

Internet businesses have the advantage that the initial investment to start the business is small. We have, on purpose, excluded inventory carrying businesses, because of the initial costs of acquiring such inventory. That limits the business opportunities to

• internet businesses which sell knowledge based programs
• internet affiliate sites (i.e. selling someone else's products through your site); and
• businesses which provide a service that sells in one way or another your specific skills or abilities

Sales of information products have the highest income stream generation. Obviously, this takes a little bit more time to prepare. Yet, you can always use a strategy that is based on several income generating activities. Go with the affiliate pages first, while you prepare an e-book.

If you have specific knowledge in a field, you could write an e-book and sell it on your own website or through eBay, or in a combination of the two. Writing an instructional e-book is not as difficult as you think and there are a number of low priced but good technical programs that help you in structuring and creating the e-book. The topic will depend on your own skills. You should have an autoresponder. Most of the web hosting companies above offer one as part of their package. But, if you want to get more sophisticated, or when your site picks up traffic ( you can argue that, you have to have a good autoresponder and mailing list/client manager otherwise your site will never pick-up traffic! This is a valid argument!) you would consider someone like aWeber who offers an integrated suite. aWeber also offers some interesting articles on the subject. Another company is "getresponse.com". Given, that you create something with which you can potentially earn several tens of thousands a month, this is an amazingly low amount. Moreover, the total start up costs do not all come up at the very beginning but are probably spread out over three or four months.

The key issues in selecting the "right ISP".

Reliability
This is obviously the key issue for that. Because what does the best package help, if the site is down and no one can see it? The above recommended ISP's all have 99.9% reliability and we have never ever had any problems with a site not being available.

Storage Capacity
If you create an affiliate site or a site selling an e-book it is unlikely, even if you have a large site, that your storage capacity needed will be much more than 5 Mb. So, 1000Mb storage capacity offered is nice, but probably unnecessary for your type of business. You will need such large storage capacity, if you sell MP3 or DVD files and want the files stored on site for downloads.

Bandwith
This is the transfer capacity of files (e.g. websites and products) for the traffic you will get. If your site carries a lot of graphics and if you sell large capacity eBooks then you will require more capacity, than if you have an affiliate page with few graphics. In any event, buying additional bandwith is usually expensive. So if the ISP offers a lot of bandwith as part of a package, even if you do not use it at the beginning, it is a good thing.

Pop3 E-Mail Accounts
This is simple, the more you get, the better. You will use them in the end

Additional Items
These can be such items as a Web Site Creator, Autoresponder, multiple domain hosting, good site statistics, a marketing package and a search engine submission package, are all attractive offers that save you money and time.

Set-up Fee
Some of the ISP's charge you a set-up fee. This generally applies if you do not prepay for 6 months or a year ahead. This fee can be $25-100. It is therefore well worth considering prepaying for a period.
